was founded to provide an environment
where the beauty and the philosophy of Chinese culture can be learned and appreciated,
through the history and the elegant movement of Chinese Dance.
YaoYong
Dance's
curriculum is based mainly on the systematic approach of the
Beijing Dance Academy
(北京舞蹈學院),
where learning dance is an art as well as a science. With an emphasis on basic
training and body rhythm, students are introduced to various Chinese Folk Dances,
Ethnic Dances, and the Chinese Classical Dances. In addition to graded Chinese
dance classes for youth and adult, Ballet, Hip Hop, Salsa, Jazz and Wushu
(武術)
classes are also offered.

Performances Dance is a performing art. We feel that participation in performances is an important part of our students' training. Annually, there are three major theatre performances. The Spring Showcase (春季舞展) is the annual student showcase of various dance styles and the Autumn Showcase (金秋舞展) is the showcase of adult students. All levels of students get an opportunity to demonstrate what they have accomplished in the past year. The Summer Showcase-the Legacy Series (仲夏舞展-薪傳系列) is where advanced students have the opportunity to present their skills and beauty in dancing, while the teachers witness the reward of their students' training.
